What I wore - to work.

Image
This week I went back to work. I will have to avoid wearing contacts for a while, and I don't like myself in glasses... So to feel better about myself, I decided to wear my new cobalt pumps for the first time. I have to admit, they were not the most comfortable shoes I own...         Shirt- Conbipel Cardigan - OVS Jeans - Miss Sixty Pumps - Primadonna Necklace - Particolari Glasses -Just Cavalli Here is a closeup of my beautiful shoes. Someone at work comented that it's not the easiest color to wear. I say, since it's such an attention grabbing color, it should be worn with a neutral outfit, as I did here. Or whatever, I think it'd look nice also in a mis-matched outfit... This post will be part of Tara's What I wore to wo rk weekly link-up. Go check what other lasied wore to work!

It's that time of the year,,,

Image
That time of the year when flowers bloom, birds chirp, the air is warm and I have no idea how to dress. It's too cold for bare legs, short sleeved dresses and sandals. Too hot for wool pants and skirts and boots. So, I am left with jeans and a few tops I keep using, while trying to catch up on laundry and ironing as fast as I can. Since I have a bad eye infection and the doctor ordered to stay at home for a week, I did what every wise woman would do: turned t Pinterest for inpiration. Here are a few outfits I loved: Image source Image source Image source Image source Image source Image source Image source Image source The first outfit is my absolute favourite. I don't own a suede jacket (unfortunately), and I'd substitute a brown leather bag for the black one, but I love the 70s feel. As for the others... The good news is that I own enough clothes to copy most of them - sometimes not the exact colors, but the feel for sure. The bad news is

Heartbroken.

Sunday morning light Today I am a little heartbroken. My little one started daycare today, so that she will be used to it by the time I go back to work full time, on April 29th. I am actually happy for her. She will make new friends and have a lot of fun. But it's sad for me to think that time is going by so fast, that she is almost 1 and that I'll get to spend less time with her during the day. Today when I got back home I kissed her so much she started laughing. I love her and want the best for her. And I know I need to go to work to be the best possibile mom for her. But I can't help being a little hearthbroken today...

Taking stock - Jan 2015

I like to read the "taking stock" posts on other blogs, I think it's a good way to keep track and remember what's going on in one's life at a certain time. Here is mine! Making:  sourdough bread. Smells divine. Cooking: soups. A great way to eat healthier and up our liquid intake. Drinking: water - lots of it. There is this challenge on The Everygirl, to watch and increase our water intake for the months of January. A doable goal, but one that makes me feel good. And the occasional glass of red wine. Reading: The Newlyweds by Nell Freudenberger. For now it's - meh. Hope it improves. Wanting: more vacation! Playing: London Calling by The Clash, a present for husband from me. Whishing: to be able to read a book a month this year, but I highly doubt it. Ejoying: quiet mornings when I wake up before everyone else. Marveling: that's an easy one: at how fast my little girl grows. It seems like every day she gets a new skill! Needing: to finally set

Shop your wardrobe challenge - day 7.

Image
Day 7 - An accessory you haven't worn in 6 months. Sweater - random store (4 y.o.) Skirt - Caractère (3 y.o.) Tights - Tezenis (2 y.o.) Boots - Nero Giardini (last year) Necklace - OVS (5 y.o.) For this outfit, I picked a necklace I haven't worn in years, probably because it's really a busy one. I actually quite like it, and should wear it more often. Overall the outfit was ok, but the more I wear this sweater the more I think I should let it go to a new house...

Shop your wardrobe challenge - day 5 and 6.

Still on vacation - until tomorrow. Today it's Three Kings Day, which officially marks the end of Christmas time here in Italy. So, it's time to put away the three for another eleven months... Now, back to the outfits. Day 5 - A dress or skirt, styled in some way. Sweater - random store (4 y.o.) Skirt - Oltre jeans (2 y.o.) Tights - Tezenis (2 y.o.) Boots - Nero Giardini (last year) Necklace - Steph's mom (new) This was the third outfit I tried, I wouldn't come up with something I liked. It's ok, I guess, but I didn't love it. I don't wear this sweater enough, and don't really know why, may be I just got tired of it. Time to donate? The best part is the necklace, which I bought at the beginning of December but wore here for the first time. Day 6 - Black (or dark neutral) with something other than white. Dress - Only (new) Belt - Conbipel (2 y.o.) Tights - Tezenis (last year) Boots - Nero Giardini (last year) Necklac

January challenge: 30 day shop your wardrobe.

Image
For January, I wanted to take up a small challenge just to have some fun and do something different. I decided to take up Jill Chiver's 30 day shop your wardrobe challenge . I am pretty good at wearing most of what I own and shopping with intention - I am at a point when I don't usually  get carried away while shopping (unless chocolate is involved...). But I wanted to mix things up with my clothes, plus I have a lot of stuff I haven't worn in more than a year because last year I was quite pregnant. Now one little  caveat : the challenge specifically says to shop exclusively your wardrobe. But on Jan 3rd sales started here in Lazio, so I went and bought three things I had already planned to buy before starting the challenge. I actually had a fourth thing on my list, a pair of earrings, but had no luck finding them. So, without further  ado , here are my first 4 outfits. Day one - Colors you have never combined before. Sweater - Gap (3 y.o.) Skirt - Max Mara (

Happy 2015!

Well... 2015 is here! Happy new year! We celebrated last night with a couple of friends, and today with my side of the family. I am not big on new year resolution, because I think change should be implemented day by day and not all at once on a set date. But I have a couple of purposes I want to pursuit this year. First, I have to take more time for myself. Otherwise I just burn out and become a nervous wreck, which is no good for my marriage nor for my daughter. I took an afternoon off right before Christmas to have a massage, and came home happy and relaxed, while husband and baby had taken an epic 3 hours nap. I have to start reading real books again, right now I can barely take a look at a magazine! Next, I want to stop complaining, especially at work. It brings negativity and doesn't solve things. Then, I want to be more eco-conscious, starting from the small things, such ad buying stuff with the least possibile amount of packaging, or using clothes diapers more often.
