These are some pictures I took last weekend while driving to go to the beach. The light was awesome.

Dress your Best - Day four

Image
Shirt - Zara Skirt - Store in Toronto Belt - Street stand Cuff - Dots Necklace - Present from Dad Guitar - Yamaha Silent Here I am dressing for  - my hands! These are some images from the photo shooting I had with a colleague, and I think here the attention is really focused on my hands. Because, although I can use cuffs, or bright nail polish to draw attention to my long hands, I think the accessory which highlights them the most is my guitar! Because they never seem as beautiful as when they are playing - I have been told so and I agree with this. And I am really grateful for the fact that they allow me to play. So, here's another picture, of smiling me:

Dress your Best - Day three

Shirt - Guess? Skirt - Promod Shoes - Geox Necklace - Steph's mom Bag (on the chair) - Kuvé The third day of the Dress your Best challenge I am choosing my back!  This shirt is the best to show it, since it has a deep opening in the back: Again, I like it because it is so straight. May be a bit weak lately, which should push me to try to do some yoga or other exercises to put on some muscles! Two words about this outfit. It is nothing new, as I wore it last year too, and more than once (minus the shoes, which are new). I love the black/white combination, plus some added color (in this case the red bag). It think it is a technique to have a very chic outfit, and on the long term it helps reduce the money spent on clothes: if everything is either black or white, everything goes with everything, and accessories have the task of adding a special touch of color. I am far from this kind of discipline, but I'd love to get there anyway.

Dress your best - Day two

Shirt - Pimkie Skirt - Street Stand Shoes - Le scarpe di Lou Necklace (steph's mom) Bag (on the chair) - Nia Boutique My second outfit featuring a beloved part of my body... Well, not really. What I was trying to focus on here is my posture. I find a shirt (or dress) that gently follows the back line is good for this purpose: it evidences how straight the back is. I chose to put my posture in my list because I have practiced ballet and swimming for several years, and I think both gave good results: I often get complimented on my ballerina posture. But I decided to consider it also because lately I find that when I am tired or upset at work, the first thing to show it is my posture (two colleagues remarked this last week!), so this is a way to remind me to stay tall, and imagine a thread pulling me from the top of my head (as my first ballet teacher used to say to us). And I'll keep doing yoga to work on it! PS - Just found this blog post on posture! What a coincide

Things I love Thursday!

Image
Hi everybody? How is everything going? It's time for some exercises in gratitude... This week I am grateful for: The sun, the beach, the warmth... Well, summer in general! And planning for my summer vacation. Good books. And good friends who buy books for me! Tiny, delicious, perfect muffins! Home renovation plans for next fall. Breezy dresses that make you ready to go in ten seconds flat. Summer fruits. Peaches, apricoats, cherries, prunes... They come back when I have just started to forget how delicious they taste! Taking part in the Dress your Best challenge - I have came across so many new-to-me, interesting blogs!  What's on your love list this week?

Dress your Best - Day 1

Image
Dress - Geisha Shoes - Melì Top - Tezenis Necklace - "Stolen" from mom This is my first installement of the "Dress your Best" challenge.  I picked this outfit to draw attention to my ankles. As you can see, I have pretty strong legs, but I like that my ankles appear at the same time strong and delicate... So, what I did was wear a dress that hits on my knee, to draw attention to the lower legs, and add high heels, to elongate the leg. I bought this dress in a small store in Rome which sells some unique clothes (if you ever are in Rome I'll give you the address). Love the colors, bright but not too flashy. These are the shoes (very comfortable, in spite of their height):

Photo shooting!

Last Sat I went with my colleague to a nearby field - he had asked to take some pictures of me for a class he was taking. Lots of them came out really nice - I have to say, we chose a very nice place. This is one of my favourites , I love the colors.

Dress your best!

I am going to take part to the Dress your Best challenge, a great idea from the Chics at Academichic. It involves dressing to focus on what we like about ourselves, rather than trying to hide what we don't like. The Chics ask to individuate five things we love about ourselves. Let's see... I love: My ankles My hands My back My cheekbones My posture In the next two week, the assignment is to post at least one outfit focusing on one of these features. Let's see how I'll do...

Random.

Image
Image source Because I don't have a topic for a full post, I am going to post about some random stuff. I want these shoes. If/when they'll be on sale, I am going to look for them A colleague asked me if he could take some pictures of me for a class he's taking. We went today at sunset, and he shot me while I was playing guitar. I am very curious to see the result! I am going to spend the day at the beach tomorrow! I am really in need of a vacation. Work is becoming very heavy... On the same topic, I am planning to stay some days in Venice, at my cousin's, probably next month! And when not in Venice, I am planning on exploring some places around here I am not familiar with - and take lots of pictures! I went to the nearby town last weekend after quite some time. It's the town I went to hight school to. There are so many new cute and interesting little shops, I think I am going to check them wehn sales start. I have to be more careful with my budget... In O

Ok, without further ado , here are some links I loved! This really made me think. What's the point of pretty? Here 's what Leo Babauta has to say about control. Ten rituals for a better day . Hy everybody. How is the weekend treating you? I am headed to the beach, but in case it's raining where you are now, here's something to read to kill time... Decluttering as a Zen master - by Zenhabit. I am implementing his suggestions to tidy up my closets... And during your decluttering... you might find useful how to store necklaces by Angie. Lovely Megan tells about anchors and gravitational goals . Sarah Von never ceases to amaze me: How to tell people things they don't want to hear . Common financial mistakes - from a blog I have just discovered. Enjoy!

Song of the day

Another love at first listening... Heard it yesterday on the radio, I think I am going to buy his new album.

Lots of lovely things this week... The Einsturzende Neubauten! Saw them last night, they are GREAT! The played for more than two hours, and I'd have kept listening! Here's a video from some years ago. This was the first song yesterday. I had so many things planned for today (it's vacation day here!)... Actually just one: make some sense out of all my stuff and tame my closet. But yesterday a friend asked if she could come for lunch... And I decided I have the whole summer to tame my closet, had her for lunch, together with both sisters and my niece. And in the afternoon we took a long walk and had a delicious ice cream. Such a lovely day... Fresh basil and strawberries (not at the same time) Looking forward to a Sunday on the beach. Shopping anticipation! And sun after the rain.
