Moved!

Image
Well, it wasn't too grueling... Parents came and dad helped me take things down the stairs. Mom and I even went to the beach. And after I put everything aside, I went to have dinner at my parents'. So didn't even have dishes to wash. Now, one thing that really makes me feel at home is... ...a fridge full of good stuff (including some great white wine). ... but I still have some work to do on the door part...

Moving...

Image
I have moved so many times that I am now an expert, very efficient. I have moved from Italy to Brooklyn, several times while there, then from Brooklyn to Buffalo, then from Buffalo back to Italy. I have moved out of my ex' apartment, and that was painful. I am such an expert, but that doesn't make moving less painful. I get really attached to places, to the memories and the moments I have lived there, that I get really sad...

Link Love!

Image
It's just a few links today, but well worth reading... On dealing with stress. .. Definitely trying some of these! And another set of good suggestion - on Blogging for busy people . I loved reading this from Sal. What do you think? Do you have a separate work-weekend wardrobe? I agree with Sal, and in my closet you'll find mostly clothes that can be worn at work and during the weekend as well - but then, but work place is pretty informal! This really resonated with me. There is always someone gossiping at work, and it's extremely difficoult to stay away from it. These are all good reasons, and so true (via Already Pretty )! Happy weekend everybody!

Updates...

Well, I went to the doctor today. He thinks either I cought some virus, and being sick my blood pressure went down, making me feel so weak, or the low blood pressure itself caused my strong headache and weakness. In any case, he gave me some medicine. Then I went to my mom's to see her and tell her what the doctor had said. And she told me "you lost a lot of weight since last time I saw you!" And I replied "But you last saw me last Sun. It's really not possible!" Truth is, I look kind of sick, and my face is very pale, and I understand I might have appeared thinner to her. And I know the real reason is - too much work and no play make Chiara a dull boy. Or girl, but I wanted to quoteKubrick more closely! So I can't really do anything for my dullness right now, aside from resting and taking my medicine. But I can try fixing my dull skin. I started here: A face mask-scrub. Too bad after the scrub a mosquito liked the smell so much that it bit m

A couple of outfits...

Image
II haven't posted outfits for quite some time! Here are two from the last days. Nothing special, but both are more summery than anything I have worn until now... Cardigan - OVS Industry Tank top - UC Benetton Jeans - Diesel Sneakers - Adidas Necklace - H&M Scarf - Thrifted This is a weekend outfit I wore to run errands and take a long walk. The cardi was functional because it could be taken off and be tucked in my bag when it was too hot. Meet my new sneakers. I have used my Nikes to pieces, so it was time to get a new pair. I am sure these Adidas will serve me well. Shirt - Project for Upim Pants - Liu-Jo Pumps - Killah Necklace - Steph's mom This is a very simple work outfit (I wore it with the above cardi in the morning), but I find it very summery. I like burgundy shoes with an otherwise totally neutral outfit, and I am glad I bought this 5€ shirt (on sale) last year, since stripes seem to be big this summer. And, I need to fix my haircut!

Burnt out...

Image
I feel exactly like this candle. I had a terrible headache this morning and wasn't able to go to work. Plus, I am so tired I cannot even sit for too long. I wander what's happening to me. My gut tells me it's my body trying to forcce me to rest...

Song of the day

I fell in love with this song... It's so beautiful!

This week...

Image
...has been insane. I have had so much work I feel like I should spend the whole weekend sleeping: Image source But I have quite some things to do this weekend: I'll have to pack for next week's move. Ideally, I'll leave out only the things I'll need this coming week. I decided to get out a bit of my comfort zone, and go to a party at a colleague's place. This guy is from another department, so mostly it'll be people from his lab - which I know all, but not well. There'll be a couple of people from my lab , luckily. It was not an easy decision, since I don't feel very comfortable in a too crowded enviroment, but I am sure I'll have fun. If the weather allows, I'll go to the beach tomorrow! And, I have to make a cake to bring to work on Mon.

Loved this...

Hi everybody! Sorry for my long absence... it's just that when the weather gets so beautiful all I want is to be outside, and don't feel that much like taking care of my poor blog(s)! Here is what I have been up to: This is the black vanilla home scent. To answer your questions: it smells like a spicy vanilla. It's vanilla with a little kick. I don't like vanilla because it's a bit too sweet for my taste, but I love this one. It's nice to come back home to this wanderful smell. I have started going to the beach.  Mainly for afternoon naps. Don't worry - I am using a high SPF. It's so nice, not yet hot, and not yet crowded. I have slowly been enjoying these: Dark chocolate I brought back from Germany. It's so good it's almost incredible. I'll have to move out of this place at the end of May. I am a bit sad about this, but I'll get back in September - and I'll have to go through some home renovations, which I am pretty ha

Lovely links.

Happy weekend everybody. Today's list of links is a bit on the random side, but I really enjoyed all of them! Meditation on the move . This si something I have been practicing even before I knew it had a name. And I find it so much more natural and easy than the "traditional" meditation. Meal planning part II by Analiese. It's about designing your weekly meals. Loved the idea so much I started following her advice - I spend noticeably less at the grocery, and I don't waste any food. Where to get inspiration by Allie. Inside vs. outside style by Angie. I personally change as soon as I get home: I don't want my good clothes to get stained when I cook or clean my place. I wear old clothes, still in good conditions when I am home alone, so that if I have to take out the trash I don't feel ashamed to be seen. And I very much agree with this lis t!

Some late lovely links...

Hi everybody! How is the weekend going? I am late with my links, but I had to go to work yesterday, so time was tight! Here is something wort reading: Shannon asks: Why not... Create your own signature style? Which, as she explains, embraces much more than the way we dress. A guest post at Zen Habits about simplifying our life with balance. This is an idea I loved, and an exercise I think I'll do every weekend! Very wise advice on keeping your cool when someone makes you mad! Have a happy rest of the weekend!
