Thursday outfit.

Image
Dress - Sandro Ferrone Cardigan -  OVS Tights - Calzedonia Shoes - MNG Necklace - Target I wasn't completely satisfied with this outfit when I left my apartment this morning, but I didn't have time to change. I think the main problem here are the tights: they are too heavy for the general lightness of the outfit, plus the shoes are pretty delicate (I'll take pictures next time I am wearing them) and they are "lost" in the heaviness and darkness of these tights. It looked much better when I changed to a sheer pair of black tights, before going to see my aesthetician.. Besides, a colleague, very nicely, when we were alone told me "Can a make a remark? I always compliment you on how you are dressed, but today you should have worn a different pair of tights." Which is exactly was I was thinking...

My outfit: Tuesday

Cardigan - Promod Shirt - Random store in Siena Skirt - UC Benetton Boots - Nero Giardini Necklace - Steph's mom Yes, this my attempt to wear brown and black together - a not so easy combination. I used to wear it a lot when I was studying at the University, then my fondness for brown faded a bit... Here I was helped by the fact that the shirt has both colors. And the other trick is to wear browns that are not too dark. In this case I am wearing champagne (in the boots) and tabac (the cardi). And the necklace recalls the boots: This is how I looked with my trench on:   Trench coat - UC Benetton Bag - Random store in Nettuno Scarf - Random store in Boston Again, the cheetah bag helped a lot, since it contains both black and brown. I liked this outfit, and I felt both classic and a bit unique in it.

Updates!

Image Source I have some good news... Which explain also why these last four days I have been so stressed out and unable to sleep well. I am not going into the details, but the good news is: my temp contract was converted into a permanent contract at my company, starting April 1st I am so happy - yet so tired that I am not able to show how happy I am.  It's really a nice place to work, and I like all the projects I am working on. I'll celebrate this weekend. Tonight, for me, is a nice dinner with a good glass of wine, a new magazine, a fresh book, herbal tea and long hot shower- and a chat with a loved one before bed.

Weekend outfits.

Cardigan - Promod Shirt - Random store in Siena Skirt - Klikx Tights - JCrew Boots - Frau Necklace - Random store in Niagara Falls This is my Saturday outfit for running errands. It was such a beautiful, warm day, I took a very long walk in the afternoon. I am feeling I wore lots of old stuff: the shirt, the tights, and especially the necklace. If I have kept this stuff for so long, it means I like it a lot! Let me introduce you to my new trench coat: Trench coat - UC Benetton Bag - Aéropostale Scarf - Thrifted The color of this trench is slightly darker than the classic beige, and the lenght is shorter. I like it a lot for these reasons, andd it was a more than reasonable deal. Pretty happy with my purchase. Cardigan - OVS Turtleneck - Tezenis Jeans - Killah Booties - Fiorucci Necklace - Steph's mom I wore this on Sunday to go out for lunch. Still a very sunny and warm day - too bad now it's dark and it's probably going to rain!  I have neclected these jeans for so

Happy weekend everybody! Time to share what got my attentikon on teh web this week! Sally's musings on overdressing and underdressing, and a guest post on fitting room strategy. Sarah Von shared two incredibly well written guest posts: How to help a friend and The fun of failure . Angie's must-haves for spring and summer. FB writes an interesting post on the simple pleasures that makes us feel rich. And, last but not least, Life lessons from the incomparable Ru Paul . I loved it, liked it, laughed hard. All so true!

Friday outfit.

Image
Dress . Penny Black Cardigan - OVS Belt - Sandro Ferrone Tights - ? Boots - ? Necklace - Steph's mom I tend to wear my black dresses on Friday, for some reasons... Perhaps I am just inspired by the concept of French Friday. Today I decided to becl this cardi. The important part was to flatten the part that goes underneath, to not create too much bulk. It looks fine here, but it got better during the day, since it became a bit looser and I liked the look better. This simple belt comes from one of my SF dresses. I liked that the necklace recalls the color of my tights. Here's a close-up.   I got an interesting offer today which I have to evaluate very well. But for tonight, my plan is just to relax and have fun. I'll get back to the important stuff on Monday, when my mind and body will be well rested.

Thursday outfit.

Image
Dress - Sandro Ferrone Cardigan - OVS Boots - Nero Giardini Necklace - Steph's mom Happy Thursday, everybody! This week is really flying... Today I wore one of my two new cardigans again. Except it never came back home with me because I forgot it in the cabinet where I put my clothes when I change into work clothes (which happens only when I need to go to production departments). Oh, well, I'll get it back tomorrow. But the fact that I am wearing both new cardigans so often is a sign that they were, indeed, a very smart buy! I actually find this dress easier on the eye when worn with this cardi (I wore it by itself here ), because of the busy-ness of its print. And I prefer this outfit with these champagne boots, rather than my black ones, because of their lighter color.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Image
Cardigan - OVS Sweater - Miss Sixty Jeans - Diesel Booties - Fiorucci This is my Tue outfit. After work, I went to play with the band. It's pretty cold where we play, so I layered with the grey cardi. I am pretty happy woth this buy, I find it very versatile!   Blazer - Rodel Shirt - Promod Jeans - OVS Boots - ? Necklace - Target   Today I decided to wear this top I never use mainly because I think it's too dressy. It's sheer lace with (fake, obviously) diamond  studs. Of course, I wear a black tank top underneath. Paired with a black blazer, I think it's ok for work. And my hair looks like it grew a couple of centimeters overnight!

Monday outfit.

Image
Cardigan - OVS Turtleneck - Tezenis Skirt - Conbipel Boots - ? Necklace - Steph's mom Happy first day of spring! I decided to make an effort, and wear lighter colors. It was a nice, sunny day, even though it was not warm. Let me introduce you to my other new cardigan. Yes, it's still grey, but I thought the two are different enough to find both a place in my wardrobe...  I have tried to wear it with a belt, but I found it too bulky. Here, I pinned it, but at the end I just wore it open.  Do you have any suggestions on how to wear it? And... sorry for the weird face!

Weekend outfits

Cardigan - OVS Turtleneck - random street stand Skirt - Klikx Tights - ? Boots - ? Necklace - Steph's mom This is my Saturday outfit. I had lunch with a friend, then went to run some errands in Rome. The cardigan is one of my last buys - I needed some layering pieces, and I think grey it's a good color - it'a actually an almost silvery shade. When it's warmet I am going to wear it over a tank top, I think. Cardigan - Camaieu Turtleneck - Tezenis Skirt - Klikx Boots - Campanile My Sunday outfit. I just took a walk in the town, and I am about to go to my mom's for lunch. It's colder in the town where she lives, hence the heavier cardi. I bought it during the summer of 2009, I think, but I find it a great layering piece also for mid-season. Plus, violet matches lots of my clothes... I am planning on pulling out other layering pieces from my wardrobe, today, before I just go buy some. I remember some of them, but I am sure I'll find something I completely fo

My outfit - Thursday.

Image
Cardigan - Promod T-Shirt - Tezenis Jeans - OVS Industry Boots - Frau Necklace - Steph's mom  This is what I wore on my vacation day. It was a good idea to wear boots, because as soon as I wrote it was a nice day, the sky became darker and during my walk it started to rain (it was a smart idea to have my umbrella with me, too!). These boots are very comfortable to walk in, too. I don't wear this cardi too often, because it's too warm during the summer and too cold for winter. It was perfect today, and I think I'd like it paired with a grey t-shirt too. I find the color combination interesting. The necklace is a recent buy. Here's a detail: Green, violet and white. Love it!

Thursday love.

Image
Today I am loving... A vacation day (today) in the middle of the week, to spend as I want. Chagall and its dark, deep colours - although I am not sure I fully understand his art. Sweet juicy pink grapefruits. Kitchen experiments... even when my oven messes up! Being continuously (almost to the level of embarassment) told I am beautiful... from a person whose opinion I care a lot. Rome on Italy's birthday... full of italian flags! Plain tickets to Germany! What are you loving today?

Vacation Day!

Image
This is how google.it appeared this morning... Because today it's Italy's 150th birthday! Aside from all the polemic talks about this festivity, I am so happy we decided to celebrate it: Italy unification is an event worth remembering. So, my plans for the day involve: some yoga, a walk on the beach followed may be by some shopping, baking, newspaper reading and going to an art exhibition in Rome this afternoon - more on that later. So glad it'a a nice day (yesterday it never stopped raining), so the vacation day can be even more pleasant.

Yoga...

Image
Image source   I have been practicing some yoga poses for the last three days (on Sunday I even had two sessions), in the hope of decreasing my back pain. It was nothing bad, more like an unconfortable feeling. I have to report that I don't feel any pain anymore in my back! For now I am only practicing five poses, but I am planning on adding one everr other day. I am really surprised by how quick I saw some results!

My weekend...

Image
My weekend started with an email from a japanese friend who lives in Germany... she reassured me her mom, who is in Tokyo, is ok. My thoughts go to all japanese men and women who are suffering throught his disaster. I know they are strong people, they have already shown it to the world. Aside from this sad event, and my following it on the web/on newspaper, it was a nice relaxing weekend. Coffee with a friend, tea with another friend, baking (see above), walks and some shopping (will show you soon my new trench coat). Playing music and having lunch at my mom's with little niece. Plus, I started doing some yoga again - hoping it'll help me relieve the tension I get in my shoulders - which is making it difficoult even to play my guitar. I'll try to keep up my practice, it feels so good while I am doing it! How was your weekend?

New Blog!

Image
I have started a new blog - Kitchen Experiments (above is an image from my first post). It'll be a journal of my cooking sessions. Check it out, and let me know what you think!

Link Love!

Image source Hi everybody an happy weekend! Somehow I didn't get around to posting my weekly links last Saturday, so today you'll get double the goodness! Let's start... From beautiful Shannon at The Simply Luxurious Life, lots of good reads: Traditions, to follow or not to follow? (I have very strong opinions on the matter, I'll share them with you some day...), Why not... be an optimist? ( part one and two ), Self-confidence aids financial succes (opinions?), Create your own unique destiny . Translating inspiration from the chics at Academichic. On the advantages of saying no ! Change your style, change your life. Choosing to be you! How to take care of your designer shoes (or any shoes, really!) Searching for serendipity ... this is one of my favourite words in english. Even its sound is so... melodic! Cutting out the "I deserve". Life is short... just wear your crazy hat! How to determine how much to spend on a quality wardrobe. Dealing

Friday outfit.

Image
Glasses- Vogue Cardigan - Camaieu Turtleneck - Tezenis Pants - Liu Jo Booties - Fiorucci This is my French Friday (supposedly) chic outfit. I am wearing pants because I had music class after work, and I am wearing glasses because I have an eye bug, and I won't wear contacts before it's gone (hopefully soon). I like black with purple, and I like the 60s-inspired shape of this cardigan - I think it looks quite chic...  I went groceries shopping on my way home from music class, and now I am really tired.  I am planning long walks during the weekend, lots of rest, and baking experiments.

Friday reminder...

A little cute video for French Friday... Found via of how to be chic . Don't know if I really agree with the "you have to suffer just a little bit" stuff. I would change it into - you have to make an effort. Always.

Image source Some things which made me smile... Coming home early, the sun still up, and seeing the apartment filled with light. It makes me happier to sit and study music. Long (and I mean, really long) walks by the sea during the weekend Cute colleagues that on woman's day welcome me at work with smiles and 2 (two) croissants. So nice and unexpected! Having a nice and appreciative guest for lunch on a sunny and warm day. The smell of the air when it's sunny and you can feel that spring is on her way. FInding a new, premising recipe to try. So much to be grateful for... Life is good!

Lent...

Image
Every year, for lent, I decide to give up something. I have been thinking what will be this year. I have chosen a tangible thing, and a "behaviourial" thing. I am giving up candies. Sometimes I have them during the day, when I am waiting for lunch, or bored. Besides being bad for my teeth, I have noticed they give me stomach trouble. Plus, all the sugar makes me hungrier than I need to be. And, I'll try to give up gossip. I have a colleague who is very difficoult to "contain", and sometimes she just drags me into conversations I don't really want to have. Today, for example, she started asking me if the man I am seeing is jealous of other men. She was asking question after question about him because she was curious to have some details - which I don't really want to share with anyone at work. I just stopped her by saying she was embarassing me with our other colleagues... And she starts commenting about other people's life, which are really non

Tuesday outfit.

Image
Sweater - Miss Sixty Jeans - OVS Boots - ?  Belt - Effetti I went to visit my mom, last sat, and looked for something to borrow on her wardrobe. I found this red sweater, and she told me to keep it, because she is not wearing it much. What a nice unexpected score! I had actually planned to wear another pair of jeans, my grey booties and a blazer over the red sweater. Somehow, by changing one element at the time, this totally different outfit came out, and I like the result. The belt adds some shape to this too.straight sweater, and I am still in love with my boots. PS - Happy women's day! This morning the guys at the production department welcame me with congratulations and a fresh croissant... So sweet and very unexpected!

Monday outfit

Image
Wrap sweater - Blue Sand Skirt - Conbipel Boots - ? Necklace - Steph's mom I had never realized how a green sweater would look nice with this skirt before today. Fact is, there is some green in the skirt, and it matches well with the sweater.  These are my new boots (and a detail of the hardware on the ankle): I can't say who makes them: the box only says "Product of Italy" - which is weird. But they are made of a nice soft leather, and seem sturdy and durable - plus, they were 40 €, so I think I made a nice deal. The stacked heel is very comfortable. It's the second pair I buy with this kind of heel - a nice discovery. And finally, a detail of the necklace, which I bought from my colleague Steph: Overall, I liked how this outfit came out: pretty and comfortable.

Saturday outfit.

Image
Turtleneck - JCrew Skirt - Klixs Tights - Golden Lady Boots - ? Belt - Promod Necklace - OVS This was the outfit I wore for an informal dinner at my sister's place. I knew it'd be cold, so I wore this cashmere turtleneck. The outfit was a bit drab, so I added the belt, which came with a summer skirt, and the necklace. The bronze color in both recalls the hardware on my new boots - I'll take some pictures soon. I have had these red tights for years. They are quite fun, but I seldom remember I have them. On another note - the dinner was seriously delicious!!!

Wednesday and Thursday's outfits

Image
Blazer - Rodel Sweater - Lunatica Jeans - OVS Boots - Refresh Scarf - Thrifted I have been reading for months on magazines and fashion blogs how fashionable is the blazer, how versatile is the blazer, how awesome is the blazer, and I finally decided to use "mine" on Wednsday. Quotation marks are due to the fact that I borrowed this black one from my mom, and after some months she said I can keep it because she wouldn't wear it much anyway. It's a nice wool with shiny revers. I took advantage of a very cold day to wear it over my purple sweater and under my coat. It was pretty comfortable to play during music class, too. A colleague told me I looked very british, and I realized this outfit looks inspired by Kate Moss in some ways. And now I can't wait to wear the other blazer mom gave me... Sweater - UC Benetton Turtleneck - Random street vendor Skirt - Promod Boots - Campanile Necklace - Steph's mom This is today's outfit. Both the skirt and the swea

Tuesday outfit

Image
Sweater - Express Turltleneck - Tezenis Jeans - Diesel Booties - Fiorucci Necklace - Steph's mom I needed comfort to play guitar, today, and warmth. Lots of it. We got such an unexpected burst of cold air, followed by a very annoying rain... This outfit is nothing special, but I like it nonetheless. On another note... while we were playing, I got a text from my ex. He was informing me the dad of a common friend unexpectedtly died. It's very sad news, and after we were done reharsing, I called her.  The most weird part is that, after I talked to her, I felt the urge to say to everybody I care about that I love him/her. Life is too short to miss the chance to say someone we love them...
