Outfits - Tue and Wed

Image
I spent the weekend at the beach house, and on Mon I went to work directly from there - so no picture for Mon! Here is Tue: Dress - Motivi Shoes - Le Scarpe di Lou Bag - Nia Boutique Necklace - Steph's mom Bracelet - Steph's mom I bought this dress on 2008, still love it and still get lots of compliments for it. I have worn it with silver flat, but I think I like the pairing with purple shoes too. And this bag is really old too - circa 2002. It was quite a splurge, even on sale, but I am still using it to this day, so it was a good investiment. Wed Shirt - Zara Skirt - JCrew Shoes - BC for UO Necklace - Steph's mom Bag (on chair) - Project for Upim I had planned a totally different outfit for today, then I saw this skirt in my wardrobe. I have had it tightened (is it a word?) and shortened some weeks ago, and now it fits me much better. I bought it in the Rockfeller Center's JCrew in 2002, to wear to a meeting, and I am glad I can wear it again. I quite lik

Thoughts on music...

Yesterday, the music school I go to had the end of the year show. In a nice theatre, pretty close to the St. Peter's Cathedral and Via Cola di Rienzo. I wasn't too nervous, probably also because I was starting to get sick. But of course I was a little worried I could make mistakes once on the stage. I had to play two pieces, both from South-American authors, which I really liked (that's the first requisite in choosing a piece to play: you have to love it, or you'll get sick of playing it over and over again!). I didn't invite anybody to see me. I wanted to do what everyone that plays for a living does: play in front of a public composed of complete strangers. So I went there. Started playing. I was singing the piece in my head while I was playing, and I was paying attention to the quality of my sound. And when I was done, the public starte clapping their hands. It was such a strange feeling, that complete strangers would clap their hands for the music I was

This is what I wore from Tue to Thu, since today (Fri) I am sick again, and I wasn't able to make it to work... Tue: Shirt - Zara Arm cover - Street stand Skirt - Promod Purple necklace - Steph's mom Shoes - Le Scarpe di Lou Bag - OVS (on the chair) Since I got my new work shoes, I decided to start using all the shoes I was afraid to go to work in because they were potentially unconfortable. So, meet these purple beauties: I really like them, and I also like the fact they match my rose necklace. I kept the rest of the outfit neutral to show off the purple. Wed: Suit - Motivi Shirt - Glenfield Shoes - Vintart Necklace - Steph's mom Bag - Project for Upim This outfit looks much better without the jacket on. I think I have lost some weight since I bought it, because the jacket is really too big. The skirt is a little big, but I think it doesn't look bad. Here are the shoes: I like the little cone heel and the ruching - I think they can look really elegant.

Mon Outfit, and new shoes.

Well, today I had something else planned. But then, I though I wanted to wear one of the skirts I bought in the US and that I had tailored. Here's the result: Shirt - Guess? Jeans Arm wrap - Street stand Skirt - Banana Republic Shoes - BC via Urban Outfitters Necklace - Steph's mom Bag - Kuvé I liked the result, but I think it was a little too "office appropriate". So I wore this big necklace (one of the chains is fuschia), and the red bag. Plus, I think my tattoo makes everything slightly less office appropriate! The skirt is part of the suit I wore for my PhD defense - and this is, like, the third time I wore it since (I mean, since 2003!!!). Now, let me introduce you, my last (yesterday's) buy. Drumroll: My new work shoes! I bought them yesterday to wear around the lab. And today I discovered that they might be even reimboursed by the company. This way I can go to work with my most outrageous (ok, not quite...) heels, and change into something comfo

My work space!

Sometimes ago Kelly left a lovely comment on how she liked my work space, wich is often visible in the background of my pictures. I took some shot to show it better. I like that there is a lot of yellow, which is a happy and energetic color (I like it even though I don't wear it!) and orange. Here's the left wall, with books and my guitars (you can see only one, the other ones are in the left corner). The black chair was my mom's, the bookshelf my sister's, and most of the pictures on the wall were gifts. The right wall (I should have taken a picture of the window in between...): : Still have to buy a sconce for that wall... The bookshelves (where I keep CDs) are from Ikea, as most of the rest you can see here. I fell in love with this desk as I saw it, and I like the yellow chair! Then there's the big window on the right, which goes to the balcony: The orange courtains are from Ikea, too. This is the only room where I have two windows, and I love it

An outfit -Friday

Image
...because Sat (yesterday) I was so skick that I staied in bed the whole day... An on Fri night I wore a nice dress I have never taken a pic of, but I forgot to take a picture this time too! Back to business: Shirt - Pimkie Skirt - Promod Belt - random street stand Shoes - Prendimi Necklace - Target? Handbag - Project for Upim For a change, and because the other belt I used with this skirt is black, while these sandals are brown (never together!), I used this belt, higher on my waist. I am not really used to highlight my waist like this, simply because... I don't have one! But I think the result here is not too bed. The handbag is clearly an imitation of a Hermès Kelly. Which is the handbag I'll buy to myself when I'll finally get a non-temp contract. That, or a Birkin, I still have to decide. Until a while ago, I thought I'd want it in red leather. Now I think that a beautiful brown leather would get beautiful with age. For now, I am happy with this one: it&

I have been so bad in posting lately, mostly because I haven't felt like doing anything... Anyway: here are some outfits from the last days: Shirt - Pimkie Skirt - Project for Upim Shoes - Frau Necklace - Stole it from mom I took this skirt to the tailor to have it shortened, since I thought it hit at the wrong place on my leg. She did, and gave me back the fabric she had cut. So, I wore the t-shirt and the skirt and felt like something was missing. I added the leftover fabric as a belt, and I quite liked the result! Shirt -Pimkie Skirt - Promod Belt - Promod Shoes - Gaia Necklace - Target? Yes, I went to Pimkie and bought a bunch of shirts - mainly because I needed them. The belt came with this skirt, but since the shirt is pretty long, I preferred to put it over it. Shirt - Guess? Jeans Skirt - Promod Shoes - Primadonna Necklace - Target I bough these shoes last friday. They are really comfortable to walk in, but the back band slips. I have to find a way to keep it

Forty two.

I have been pretty under the weather lately. Can't seem to stop thinking about this time last year, when my ex and I were perfectly happy and satisfied with each other. I kept thinking how happy I was, all the things we were doing together, the holiday we were planning, an so on. But then, suddenly, something happened. I was talking on the phone with him (never a good idea, I know, but I am a human being too!), when, I don't know why, I asked him how old was his new girlfriend (which I have met by mistake-his mistake -last Tue when I went to pick up something I had left at his place). And he said - about forty. About forty? I said. How old exactly? Forty-two. Fortytwo as in 42. And I felt this strange, inappropriate, unexpected urge to laugh. Fortytwo. That's six whole years older than me - and him, for that matter. So, I had been all time asking him and myself what she has I don't have, where she is better than me, and so on. And here was the answer. I w

I wore this on Wed afternoon (it was holiday here), so meet some friends for a pre-dinner drink in Rome: Shirt - Benetton Tank top - Tezenis Belt - Random street stand Jeans - Killah Shoes - Nike Necklace - may be AE? And this is how I looked with my jacket and scarf on: Jacket - Glenfield Scarf - OVS I didn't look very glamourous, but I wasn't feeling like getting dressed up because it was dark and rainy. Plus I was really tired for having gone to bed really late the day before. But I kinda like the result, even though there are lots of colors. Plus, check out my beloved bag on the chair! This was Thu for work then music lesson: Shirt - Guess jeans Arm wrap - random street stand Pants - Promod Shoes - Frau Necklace - Steph's mom I got compliments on these pants. They are made of a linen/cotton blend, and are so comfortable that I was feeling as if I was wearing sweatpants. Whish I had taken a picture of the flats - which are really pretty and shiny, and the

Mon: jeans again because I had band reharsal after work: Shirt - Promod Jeans - Killah Necklace - Target Shoes - BC by Urban Outfitters This picture is so dark... and I feel like I wear the same three necklaces all the time-probably because it's true! I have had these shoes for 4 years now. They are pretty confortable, but I have no idea why they don't get much use... here's a closeup: Tue - to work again, of course: Shirt - Conbipel Skirt - Promod Fishnet tights - SiSi Shoes - Gaia Necklace - gift from a friend My face looks so weird here... After work I changed into something better to go to a date, but I didn't take pics. I'll weark that skirt again soon, though. Today it's holiday, and I havn't gotten dressed yet...
